Our Takarunga/Mount Victoria segway tour is the best way to see the sights while having of loads fun!
As the highest volcanic cone on Tamaki Makaurau/Auckland’s North Shore, Takarunga/Mount Victoria is well worth exploring. You’ll glide effortlessly on your segway to the summit where the views back to the city and the Hauraki Gulf are spectacular.
This 1 ½ hour Auckland segway tour includes an interesting commentary. As you cruise up and down the mountain and around the village, you’ll hear about the secrets of the vibrant mushroom field and the ‘Disappearing Gun’.
Make sure you bring your phone or your camera, because the views you’ll have on this Auckland segway tour are something else! . There are plenty of photo opportunities around the village, beaches and parks and from the summit. We’ll also make sure you have the opportunity for some ‘free- riding’ time to thoroughly enjoy the excitement of a segway ride and discover what the agile vehicles can do.
TO RIDE A SEGWAY ON THIS TOUR, YOU MUST:
- Be agile and able to climb stairs unaided.
- Be able to step on and off the Segway with ease.
- Be 13 years old or over

The Mount Victoria segway tour is limited to six (6) participants.
- COST: $130.00 per person. Allow 2 hours as we need training time before the tour. Actual tour time is 1½ hours
The Booking System will secure your details e.g. name, date, time, numbers and a confirmation ticket/invoice will be sent to your email address.
However your payment will not process.

TAKING THE FERRY?
If you’re coming from the city you can take the 12 minute ferry ride from the downtown terminal. Once here you’ll find us inside the Devonport Ferry Terminal.

Booking for the Ferry is not necessary as they run every ½ hour during the day.
AUCKLAND HARBOUR BRIDGE
If you’re driving from the City over the bridge you need to allow 45 minutes as traffic can be heavy coming into Devonport via Lake Road.
There is free 3-hour car parking outside the ferry terminal building. And a large Pay and Display parking area on the waterfront. Alternatively, you will need to find parking in the streets around the village.

Takarunga/ Mt. Victoria at 87mtrs. high looks out over the Naval Base and the Waitemata Harbour to THE BEST views of Auckland City and the Hauraki Gulf making it one of THE things to do in Auckland.
Early History ...
You can understand why the Maori people named this volcanic coneTakarunga (hill standing above) as you look out over the Waitemata Harbour (sparkling water)
You also have a magnificent view of the main shipping channel from the summit of Takarunga/Mt. Victoria. The old Signal Station at the summit was built in 1954. Radar was installed in 1970.
In June 2000 the station became fully automated and now guides ships into the harbour from the Ports of Auckland Container Terminal also visible from the summit.
Bunkers from as early as the 1870’s can be found at the summit. One in particular is now the home of the “Devonport Folk Music Club” (The Bunker) where you can enjoy the ambiance of a roaring open fire in the winter and fabulous views as you assemble outside to imbibe in a cuppa or a beer at interval on a clear starry night.
